About The Artist
Hi there, and thanks for wanting to know more about me and my history with jewelry! I am completely "self taught" when it comes to my beaded jewelry work. I have always had a natural tendency towards the creative arts, and therefore have developed an eye for combining color, shapes and textures into a pleasing design and composition. My formal education includes a Bachelors Degree in Business with an emphasis in Marketing & Advertising, and a Minor in Art, from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, CA. For several years following graduation, I worked as a graphic designer for various companies. This did not whole- heartedly feed my creative soul, and with the loving support of my husband, I found my way into the fine art of painting and ceramics for several years. I now can say the most satisfying creative outlet for my own self expression has become an attachment and obsession to jewelry design. It is the most effective way to speak volumes about who we are without saying a word - and what girl doesn't like to accessorize with jewelry!
My early childhood years were spent in Toledo, Ohio, near much of my extended family in Pennsylvania. As a teenager, my family moved to the coast of Southern California. Many of my favorite jewelry pieces reflect these coastal influences, and my affinity for the sun, sand and ocean. I now live in Boulder, Colorado, at the foot of the Rocky Mountains with my husband, Seth, my 9 month old son Tristan, and my best canine friend, Dublin, an adopted Australian Kelpie.
With a love of travel and unique cultures, these last few years have taken me around the world to some amazing places that have inspired my designs! Mexico, Central America, much of Western Europe and Southeast Asia, most recently. I still have many more places on my laundry list of destinations to explore, but for now I am taking a short break from long distance travel to do the "family thing" for a bit. It's a different kind of adventure, and one that I am thoroughly enjoying for now. Thank you for your support and for helping to keep these global arts alive through your purchase and enjoyment of Two Hemispheres jewelry!
About Two Hemispheres
Two Hemispheres was established in 2006 when my bead collection outgrew the living room and needed a single dedicated space for improved creativity. A home studio now provides a functional and inspirational place for all of my "stuff." I have more recently explored metal work and enjoyed the limitless possibilities that one can find with such tools! Time is my biggest challenge for now, but I continue to embrace commitment and dedication to my customers as top priorities (as always), and enjoy developing lasting relationships with those who keep my creative juices flowing, and allow me to continue down this beading path as a jewelry designer.
I am proud to support artisans around the world (whenever possible) by purchasing materials & beads that provide them an income to cover the most basic life necessities. Without much or any education, many have nothing else to offer but their crafting skills that become an integral part of their daily lives & livelihood.
All signature jewelry designs are composed of a variety of high quality materials, including handcrafted silver from Thailand & Bali, unique “glass-like” ceramic beads from Kenya, intricate silver and stone pendants specific to the Himalayan region, new & ancient pendants reproduced in bronze and silver, and semi-precious stones and natural materials that span the globe to compliment these unique pieces. Hence the name “Two Hemispheres.” Thank you for your support!
It is my hope that these pieces I have put so much creative energy into designing will spark something within you too ~ perhaps a personal connection: an exotic vacation taken, a desire to visit some far-away land, or maybe a fascination & curiosity of the culture. Jewelry has been used since the beginning of time not only for aesthetic adornment, but to represent & identify specific nationalities and subcultures as well. Whatever your reasons or purpose, be sure to celebrate your individuality and express your sense of style with these unique, one-of-a-kind works of art ~ just like you!
